Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong

Honestly, SOMM (inside Landmark MO) is still one of my favorite spots in Central for brunch, it doesn't feel like a typical hotel restaurant as it has this really warm, boutique vibe. The staff are super attentive, good options and the Champagne is top-notch. Given how well you're looked after and the quality of the food, the value is actually fantastic.
I had high expectations for the newly opened Mandarin Oriental Landmark given the brand's reputation, but unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel staycations I've had.
The room felt dated after renovation. The bathroom had no power outlet by the vanity, so I couldn't use my own hairdryer. The hotel's hairdryer also lost power because its built-in plug came loose, and I couldn't reconnect it myself.
Breakfast was by far the biggest letdown. Instead of simply refilling a hot cup of coffee, they served a large pour-over carafe that was too hot to handle and inevitably went cold. The breakfast itself was surprisingly ordinary, with only a small à la carte menu, cold pastries and bread, and our order still came out incorrectly despite multiple confirmations.
The biggest surprise was finding out **only after arriving** that there is currently **no spa or gym**. Guests are sent to another hotel's facilities instead. This absolutely should have been disclosed before booking, especially for people booking a staycation to enjoy the hotel itself.
The Fan membership also advertises early check-in and late check-out without making it clear that both are entirely subject to availability. We arrived 1.5 hours early based on those advertised benefits, only to wait until after official check-in time before our room was ready.
Other small but noticeable issues included damp bedding with a hole, Nordaq water bottles that were surprisingly difficult to open, confusing minibar pricing, and inconsistent water pressure in the bathroom.
What disappointed me most is that it feels like the hotel is focusing on the wrong things. Luxury isn't about oversized pour-over coffee presentations—it's about comfort, thoughtful service, clear communication, and getting the basics right.
I really wanted to love this hotel because I'm a long-time fan of the Mandarin Oriental brand. Sadly, this stay made me **not a fan**.
I had a wonderful experience at Landmark Mandarin Oriental. The recent renovations look fantastic—everything feels fresh and modern. The room was absolutely amazing, and the staff were both highly professional and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. I highly recommend it!
We had a wonderful time at Mandarin Oriental the landmark and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional stay. Right from the start, the check-in process was awesome, and the staff were incredibly friendly, providing excellent service throughout our entire visit. The newly renovated room was impressively spacious and comfortable, which was a true luxury. On top of that, the location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Central, making it incredibly convenient to explore the area. To finish it all off, the breakfast was absolutely perfect. Thank you to the wonderful team for a memorable stay; we will absolutely be back!
I’m very sensitive to scents, but walking into the lobby felt incredibly comfortable. The hotel’s fragrance wasn't overpowering at all—just a subtle, lovely floral aroma.
The exceptional service from Terry and Fiona further enhanced my appreciation for this hotel. They were highly professional, friendly, and polite.
I look forward to coming back next time!
